Our Story

Namaste!

Dr Bhavna Pandya, as the President of BSDF and Dr Sapna Bhansali as the Vice President of BSDF would like to invite and welcome you all.

The COVID 19 pandemic saw a different impact on ethnic minorities in the UK. While catching Covid illness, isolating and worrying about herself and the family before the availability of Covid-19 vaccine, Dr Bhavna Pandya identified the need to support the Sanatan Community. Dr Bhavna Pandya, chair of medical committee of Hindu Forum of Britain and Dr Sapna Bhansali, vice chair of the committee, actively campained and successfully led the Covid-19 vaccine and support campaign for the Hindu community of the UK at this difficult time.

It is also recognised that Long Term Conditions for example diabetes, Kidney diseases and heart diseases have a higher prevalence in the Indian population in the UK. It is known that there is a genetic disposition of certain types of illnesses in ethnic minority groups in the UK. In addition to genetic preponderance, there are certain Sanatan philosophical and cultural characteristics which may have an impact on the possibility of getting these illnesses or accessing the healthcare resources, such as cervical cancer screening, paliative care or mental heatlh support. However, at the same time these characteristics may be able to prevent and support the Sanatan community from certain illnesses if guided and used appropriately, for example, yoga, meditation, family support and extended family.

By sharing experiences, knowledge and skills, we aim to take the initiatives to identify, highlight and resolve health issues of the community as a whole for the UK.

We have come together to pull forward everything we all have in common as Sanatan Doctors and other healthcare professionals with roots in India as the land of Sanatan Dharma, to improve the health of British Sanatan Community and the wider public.
